This 'n' That
The power company should be here today to hook up my daughter's mobile home. The various inspectors and workers have come and gone. The water is hooked up, the septic system is in, the power pole with the meter box is in place, and the lines to the breaker box in the mobile have been connected.
Kentucky has a neat law on wiring houses. It's legal for the homeowner to do it themselves instead of having to pay a licensed electrician. Of course the state inspector gives it a much more thorough going over than if an electrician did it. My eldest son has done that sort of work, knows the current codes, etc. so was able to work with her to make sure it was all proper and pretty. Now all we need is the power company to connect the wires on the pole and put a meter in the box. If that gets done today daughter and grand daughter will spend the first night in their new home.
I've been repairing the blades for one of those decorative, eight foot windmills for the yard. Just a rough guess, if I had a job at minimum wage and put in as many hours as I have on the windmill, I could have bought eight or ten of the darned things brand new. Why do I get myself into these things?
Sitting here looking at a bottle of Glucosamine/Chondroitin on my computer desk. I pop a couple of those supplements every evening. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis about ten years ago. Really painful. several nights I had to set up and keep ice packs on one joint or another to keep the pain down. The doc sent me to a Rheumatologist who gave me some literature about living with it, and told me he could give me progressively stronger pain medication as the pain worsened. He also said I had a 30% chance of being totally disabled within three years. I decided it was time to look for a different opinion and started talking to people involved in alternatives. One friend loaned me a book called "The Arthritis Cure". The bottom line for the book was to take 1500 mg of Glucosamine and 1200 mg of Chondroitin each day. Evidently this information had been around for a while because when I checked the pharmacy they had tablets in the proper combination in a product called Osteo By-Flex. Now there are numerous competitors. I had one finger joint lock up on me during the next year, but I've not had any pain since I started taking it. About two or three years later that finger joint limbered back up too. Arthritis (either rheumatoid or Osteo) destroys the joints and that supplement combination is the building blocks that builds them back up. It may not cure arthritis, but it has stopped all effects from it in my body. I just thought I'd tell this experience in case anyone reading this has similar problems.

Not yet, I haven't; but it could well be invaluable information in my future, so thank you Fish. You are a thoughtful guy! :)
I'm glad the Glucosamine/Chondroitin worked for you. I know quite a few people who have benefitted from it.
We do that G/C from Wal-Mart as a preventative. Seems to work, plus we do tart cherry juice. The best deal going is Leelanaufruit . Do a google on tart cherry juice and you'll see that some studies show it can promote good joint health.
Do-it-yourself like your windmill blades is not always the most efficient choice. I know that one. I made a wooden cantilever aluminum can crusher - took me all day. I could have gone to the nearest hardware store and bought a metal one for $15 and a 30 minute round trip. Oh, well.
Believe it or not - that stuff was recommended by a veterinarian for my mom's dog - who had horrible arthritis. It helped him too!!!
Glad to hear your daughter's home is almost juiced up! I bet she is excited.
Yup... I gave it in liquid form to my dog (in his food)
This might interest you, too. My dad had alot of pain from arthritus. He was an avid mushroom hunter. One day he mistook some "sweat mushrooms" for some edible ones. He was a very sick man for about 24 hours.
Then he didn't have any arthritus pain for 18 months.
He never tried it again.... I think he was afraid he would die.
I thought I had Arthritus, too, tests were negative. Now I take a very expensive supplement for fibromyalgia. Seems to be helpful.
Dang long comment.. sorry!
I was amazed how fast it worked. From the day I started taking it I stopped having those "keep me up all night" pains. Oh there will be occasional twinges. Once in a great while a thumb or knee or such will be a bit achy if I've over used it, but it's much better than the progressively stronger pain pills the Rheumatoligist wanted to give me. That just allows you to be come a cripple without having as much pain.
Wow.... sure seems like the docs just want to keep every one disabled with this one. I've never heard of it up here.... Thanks Fish ... going to be doing some checking now.
